Bozeman Montana Boutique Hotel Project: The Wandering Buffalo

Over the past few months we’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with the team behind the new boutique hotel project in Bozeman, Montana called The Wandering Buffalo. While the end result in terms of window treatments was a success, the trip itself was truly the reward.

After 3 days of work, a half day of fly fishing the Gallatin was just what we needed.

It’s been about ten or so years since I first visited the Bozeman area, rounding up some of my best friends from UCLA to go fish West Yellowstone. Since then I’ve had the pleasure of returning a handful of times, including a snowboarding honeymoon mission in Big Sky, and have grown to appreciate the town and surrounding area as it continues to evolve, grow and offer more and more to visitors.

When I got the call to participate in a new western-themed hotel project with a planned open of this summer, the answer was a no-brainer. We were able to outfit the hotel with Field Work house-sourced fabrics and blackout roller shades, and find some time between the work to enjoy the town’s fast-growing food and social scene….and of course cast a few flies.

In this case, perhaps the least eventful part of the trip was the actual window treatments. That said, we were extremely happy with the end result, providing the project with one of our very nice linen-like house fabrics, an elevated and sophisticated touch for any hotel project. The project took some logistical planning, but from spec to install, was smooth and perfectly executed both to our satisfaction and the ownerships’.

Some touches around the soon to open Wandering Buffalo hotel in Bozeman, Montana. The past few weeks have been all hands on deck…and paws too. The design is fun but tasteful. I can honestly say after a few trips to Bozeman the past few months to plan and execute this project, and having stayed in a few of the most relevant competitor hotels, The Wandering Buffalo will be the nicest and most interesting, and where I would stay without ever having contributed to the project.

Some sights and happenings around town in Bozeman on a warm week/end in July. From food to drink to accommodations and adventure, the place does not disappoint.

Champagne toast in mason jars…absolutely. Cheers to a fun project in a cool town with good people and getting it done. Until next time, Bozeman.
